Have questions?

Why yet another trip planning tool?

That's a fair question, as there are so many planning apps out there already. But if you give them a try, you'll see that apps like Wanderlog or Tryp are mostly focusing on planning regular vacations. And the budgeting aspects are usually limited as well as they won't help you that much making decisions on where to go and what to do while you're planning your stay. On the other hand, apps like Roadtrippers, The Dyrt, or iOverlander are more focused on roadtrips, camping, and the vanlife and offer great tools for this! But, it's still not our main goal: planning your life around your favorite activities, all around the world. We want you to ride the best powder, to hit the best mountain biking trails, to bike the most scenic roads, to dive the most beautiful sites, to eat the best food. And we want you to do all of this without sacrificing your comfort, your money, and your peace of mind.

What can I do with NOMA?

NOMA is a trip planning and budgeting app centered around experiences and activities (snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking, scuba diving, etc). It lets you plan your stays so you can maximize doing what you love while keeping the fun of planning it yourself. It gives you a clear and honest picture of what you can expect somewhere and it lets you know about practical tips such as free bus shuttles, affordable SIM cards & transport cards, gear rental and repair shops, and many other local tips. For short stays as well as longer stays.

Who is NOMA for?

Everyone can use NOMA, and most of our tools are free. Though, this platform is built especially for active people planning stays around the world to enjoy their favorite activities in the best spots. You don't have to be a digital nomad, but most places will be curated from the eye of a digital nomad. Meaning it has to be a comfortable place to stay, work, and have fun. It can also help to understand that our core team members and main contributors are all full time digital nomads who travel around the world to live their passions (mountain biking, snowboarding, scuba diving, eating good food, and many other things). They are the first users of this platform and they want to make sure other adventurers can benefit from it.

How can I plan my stay with NOMA?

First, you need to know more or less where you want to go. If you have no idea, you can check our home page for our recommended experiences around different kind of activities. After that, you will be brought to our explore map, where you can see everything there is to do in the area. Try a few places and see what they got. Once you spotted something you like, you can click on it and add it to your trip. After adding it to your trip, you can choose dates to do your activity or to stay there. This will help you understand how much it will cost and start budgeting for your stay. For each places or activities you added, you can see a list of recommended things to do or what's important to know. For example: where you can find a free shuttle bus, where's the closest grocery store or bike shop, etc. You will notice that some of the places you found might have premium content: content that you can access only after paying a fee. This happens when a local guide decided to receive a small fee in exchange for their hard work. If you bundle multiple places in your trip with premium content, you can buy them all at once and receive great discounts. After you added all your places, selected dates for your stay and activities, unlocked the premium content when applicable, you should now have a well documented itinerary for your stay. You can open each place to access all the details and start booking your stay (on your own for now). If you are stuck at any steps, feel free to reachout to us on Instagram, Tiktok, or by email.

How does the trip budgeting work?

It is meant to represent your daily spending as accurately as possible, so that you can know how much your stay will actually cost you. We recommend you to see it as a planning tool to help you make decisions. When planning a trip, you have to choose where you will stay, what activities you will do, when you expect to do them, how regularly you eat outside, how often you'll rent a car or take public transport, if you need to rent a coworking space, etc. All of this is taken into consideration in our budgeting tool and broken down so you can see the estimated price of your trip. That way, you can better decide whether you'd prefer to stay closer to your main activity and pay a bit more or stay further away from it to pay less and commute.

Can I book plane tickets or accommodations?

As of now: no... Sorry! But we're working on partnerships to make this easier for you in the future.

Can I export my trips to Google Maps?

You can open most places in Google Maps, Naver Map, or other Navigation apps conveniently. But for now, it is not possible to export a whole trip in one go. This is something we will be working on soon.

How can I trust information shown on NOMA?

Every single place and bit of information on NOMA was shared by experienced adventurers and local guides who lived those places and activities themselves. What they share is always reviewed by their peers to make sure it follows our core values: transparency & honesty. The quality of our content is one of our key differentiators so we will never neglect it. Of course, it means that it can be opinionated, but we are confident you will be able to find adventurers and local guides who think like you and share your values so you can let yourself experience the world thanks to them.

Why do I have to pay for some resources?

This platform exists thanks to adventurers and local guides who take valuable time to share about their experiences and tips while they live their passion around the world. In exchange for their hard work, they can decide to ask for a small fee to access some premium resources (that are definitely worth paying for!). So you can see this as buying them a coffee, a beer, or a warm cup of tea as most of that fee is redistributed to them (we keep ~25% to run the platform and develop new tools).

What is a local guide?

A local guide for NOMA is an adventurer who lived an experience somewhere long enough to recommend others what to do and where to go. They share valuable information and are the heart of our platform. Without them, you wouldn't be able to discover new places to experience your favorite activities around the world.

How to become a local guide?

Being a local guide for NOMA is open to anyone, but you must earn your place. That means that you need to contribute in different ways to grow your reputation and to show that you are genuine. We want to see that you share our core values: transparency & honesty. If you want to know how you can start to contribute: drop us a line on Instagram, Tiktok, or by email (yes, we're old school).

How can I earn money as a digital nomad?

There are many different ways to earn money as a digital nomad and a simple google search can show you some interesting ways to do it. But in addition to this, NOMA relies on adventurers and local guides like you to provide genuine information to other digital nomads who want to experience the world. With enough reputation, our local guides can start sharing places, guides and other tips in exchange for a fee. Which means you could earn a passive income while sharing about your experiences. If you want to know more about it, read the rest of our FAQ and then drop us a line on Instagram, Tiktok, or by email.

Why is there so few places listed on NOMA?

Because unlike most other platforms, every place, every bit of information we share was lived and experienced by trustworthy adventurers. Additionally, we carefully review every content that is shared on NOMA to make sure it aligns with our core values and guidelines.

How can I connect with communities and other travelers?

When applicable, our local guides will share information about communities they connected with and that they would recommend you. They will do it in a way that you can understand whether you will fit or not with that community. They might also share about how to connect with locals or other people practicing the same activities as you where you're about to go.

What are the activities I can experience on NOMA?

For now, we focus mostly on skiing, snowboarding, backcountry touring, and mountain biking. We have an approach where we prefer to deeply explore an area for a specific activity before moving to another one. But soon, we will be working with adventurers and local guides who will share about the best spots to scuba dive, to do kitesurfing and to do paragliding. Feel free to reach out to us if you would like to share about your activities and experiences as well on Instagram, Tiktok or by email.
